چکیده

Introduction Tagged MRI offers the possibility to trace tissue deformation by creating planes of MR signal decrease throughout the measured object [1]. This results in dark stripes in the images, referred to as tags. In subsequently acquired time series the tag planes bend out of shape according to the motion of the imaged tissue. Retrospective tracking of the tag surfaces then enables reconstruction of the deformation process.

Automatic 3D tracking of cardiac material markers using slice-following and harmonic-phase MRI.

A method to track a grid of cardiac material points in three dimensions using slice-following (SF) tagged magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and harmonic-phase MRI is presented. A three-dimensional grid of material points on the lines of intersections of short-axis (SA) and long-axis (LA) planes is automatically tracked by combining two-dimensional pathlines that are computed on both SA and LA im...

Meshless deformable models for 3D cardiac motion and strain analysis from tagged MRI.

Tagged magnetic resonance imaging (TMRI) provides a direct and noninvasive way to visualize the in-wall deformation of the myocardium. Due to the through-plane motion, the tracking of 3D trajectories of the material points and the computation of 3D strain field call for the necessity of building 3D cardiac deformable models. The intersections of three stacks of orthogonal tagging planes are mat...

Measuring myocardial motion changes in tagged MR to establish inverse electro-mechanical coupling for XMR-guided RF ablation

Radio-frequency (RF) ablation uses electrode-catheters to destroy abnormally conducting myocardial areas that lead to potentially lethal tachyarrhythmias. The procedure is normally guided with x-rays (2D), leading to errors in location and excessive radiation exposure. One of our goals is to provide preand intra-operative 3D MR guidance in XMR systems (combined X-ray and MRI room) by locating m...

Phase-driven Finite Element Model for Spatio-temporal Tracking in Tagged Cardiac MRI

Relative motion of the left ventricle can be a useful indicator of the degree of contraction. MRI tissue tagging produces noninvasive markers within the muscle wall which can be uses measure motion and deformation. However, the widespread use of tissue tagging has been limited by time-consuming image post-processing. We describe a method for automatically calculating displacements in 2D tagged ...
